ABOUT MICHAEL LABUSCHAGNE

THE CAREER

With over 25 years in the real estate sector Michael has gained considerable experience in a variety of spheres. Starting out as an eager, young, assistant to the rentals agent of a succesful, family owned, agency, in what was meant to be a part time position. The allure of the fast pace and additional income soon proved too much, and Michael quickly exchanged Study guides and text books for listing sheets and application forms.
It would several years before he officially completed his exam with what was then the Estate Agency Affairs Board, and became a fully fledged agent. It would also be even longer before he ventured into the world of residential sales. Since those days of pre cellular communication, applications by facsimile or FAX, the industry has changed a great deal and so has he.

THE PERSON

I am a student at heart. I love to learn, and find a great many fields interest me. I might be described as a Jack of All Trades, but truthfully I am really only a master of one. Realty. I enjoy the outdoors and consider camping a fine pursuit and a good use of my time. Together with my wife, Wendy and my son, I enjoy walking hiking, some novice birding and generally being outside. Its a good thing that we live in such a temperate climate and have such awesome weather, very conducive to my interests.
It is curious, that an introvert, such as myself, should find themselves involved in an industry that involves a lot of one on one interaction with people who are, in fact, complete stangers. Yet ther it is. 25 years later, and I am finally fairly comfortable wondering around someone else's house

SCHOOLS

I have lived in Johannesburg my whole life. Growing up in Craighall Park, it was an obvious choice to attend Craighall Primary School. When I reached High School, I realised what a privilege this in fact was, since it felt like myself and my peers from CHPS were very much better prepared for the workload. Hyde Park High School was also very good to me, and I have some fond recollections of one or two teachers who shaped the way I think today. Most importantly I met and made lifelong friends here. Even though they have mostly emigrated I know for sure that we are still family. UNISA and Midrand Campus, completed my formal education. After a good few years of blood, sweat and tears I have completed my degree. I also finished a fea years of non degree study along the way. I have completed various short courses, in Firefighting and EMS, in counselling and human resources, in import and export. I could go on and probably will. Studying and doing courses that is.
